Adam Bricker is an Emmy nominated cinematographer based in Los Angeles, whose work in television, film, and commercials spans both narrative and documentary genres.
In television, Bricker's work on Netflix's cinematic documentary series CHEF'S TABLE earned him a James Beard Award for Visual and Technical Excellence in 2016 and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for Nonfiction Programming in 2018. The Netflix comedy AMERICAN VANDAL, a send-up of the true crime genre, was awarded a Peabody in 2018 for excellence in electronic media.
Bricker's film work includes STARRY EYES (2014), a micro-budget horror feature that premiered at SXSW, directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, and two films that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival: PERMISSION (2016), directed by Brian Crano, starring Rebecca Hall and Dan Stevens, and ALL THESE SMALL MOMENTS (2018), directed by Melissa B. Miller, starring Molly Ringwald and Jemima Kirke.
Bricker was born in Chicago and grew up in New Jersey, where he was raised on a film diet of The Fugitive, Jurassic Park, and City Slickers. His earliest credits include the feature films he shot starring his little sisters and other neighborhood kids. He went on to attend the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he fell in love with cinematography. After graduating, Bricker cut his teeth on a long list of Craigslist gigs. Despite the often limited budgets, he learned the resourcefulness that allows him to strive for visually ambitious cinematography on every project. Opportunity knocked in 2014 when he was brought on to shoot the new documentary series CHEF'S TABLE for Netflix. Six seasons later, the show has taken Adam all over the world. He's eaten moose-lip dumplings in Russia, mined salt on a Balinese beach, and cooked fresh ricotta at sunrise on a Slovenian mountaintop. Most importantly, CHEF'S TABLE has allowed him to reimagine and elevate the documentary genre in collaboration with a talented and nimble team.
Bricker shot the third season of BROCKMIRE, directed by Mo Marable and starring Hank Azaria, J.K. Simmons, and Amanda Peet, which is currently airing on IFC. He recently wrapped a feature in Los Angeles entitled HAPPILY, a darkly comedic thriller from writer/director BenDavid Grabinski, starring Joel McHale and Kerry Bishé. He is currently shooting the second season of Facebook Watch's SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, directed by James Ponsoldt and starring Elizabeth Olsen.
